The one and only Kardashian brother has been elusive amidst his sisters' time in the spotlight due to their enviable vacation trips, weight loss accomplishments and continued dominance on social media. Earlier this year, the Daily Mail reported that Kim Kardashian spoke with the Today Show's Matt Lauer to talk about her younger brother and his personal struggles.

Kim said: "I think he's just going through a phase where he's not comfortable in his own skin, and he is working really hard to get back to where he wants to be."

Rob was reportedly battling depression and weight gain of as much as 100 lbs, as evidenced by paparazzi photos of the 28-year-old. Kim attributed this to "circumstances in his life that he just really hasn't dealt with."

"Whether it's, you know, the loss of our father, or certain breakups, or, you know, he was extremely close to Lamar [Odom] and when, you know, Khloe and him broke up, that was really hard on him. So I think it was a couple things," she said.

In March, a source told People in a separate report that Rob is "Sad, he's bitter, he's single. He is very depressed and has been [for a while]. It's really hard for him that his sisters are so public and he looks like the shut-in."

Additionally, the source said that Rob was "struggling" and "just can't get motivated. Everyone is trying to be encouraging, but for the most part he doesn't want to hear what he already knows."

Things are looking up now, as People reports that Rob is hitting the gym with celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson, who is also credited for his sister Khloe's admirable weight loss.

"Rob is always in!" Peterson admitted. "He's slammed schedule-wise and still makes this work."

In June, Peterson said that he believed in Rob, saying, "I know he can do it."

Rob also has the full support of Kim, who has been his workout buddy lately. She tweeted this week: "Rise & Grind! Workout time!!!!! With @robkardashian."  Earlier this month, Kim also shared that she went on the most difficult hike with Rob.

The Radar reports that according to a source, "Rob has been doing very intense therapy at home." Another source said: "He is intent on beating this through working out and/or whatever is necessary."

More importantly, the source added, "He wants to be the brother that was able to take care of his sisters like he promised his father he would before he died."
