Experts are Tufts University in Massachusetts conducted a study which includes 81 men and women, from ages 40-65. They were divided into two groups and each has a diet with consisting of the same amount of energy and fat. Each group also had the similar number of protein, fruit, and vegetable servings. There was one difference, though, and that is the group's source of grain.

As a result, those who are taking whole grains tend to develop a quicker metabolism while burning a larger amount of calories. also, fewer calories were incorporated in their digestive systems.

More "T-cells" were also produced for those who are consuming whole grains, and these cells are responsible for dealing with several infections as they help increase good bacteria in the gut. According to VegKitchen, brown rice is also a rich source of calcium, thiamine, proteins, potassium, fiber, and magnesium. It works effectively to those who are trying to lose weight and for those who are suffering from diabetes as it alleviates insulin spikes.

As for the other whole grains, WebMD reported that it is packed with essential nutrients like B vitamins, antioxidants, zinc, iron, and copper. It also helps reduce the risk of heart conditions, obesity, and some forms of cancer.
