Since his split from ex-wife Miranda Lambert, country superstar and "The Voice" coach Blake Shelton appeared slimmer and thinner. Shelton stated he credits it all to "divorce diet".

Shelton jokingly told "America's Morning Show" host Blair Garner that he has been on the divorce diet since July but he's not attributing his weight loss to his and Lambert's breakup, E! News Online reports.

He shares, "The whole stress of getting through all of that is just... It was just weird. I'm not eating as many fried pickles and stuff. I'm doing great. I am. It's just... I wasn't, like, going to the gym. Just stay as busy as you can to kind of keep your mind off of everything."

A close friend of the country crooner also shares that since Shelton has more time in his hands, he was seen doing things he didn't do before, like taking care of himself and working out, People Magazine confirms.

The source revealed that before Shelton's divorce, he pushed himself too hard to make time with Lambert even when his schedule didn't permit it. With all the extra time he has now, he started going to the gym again. It's his way of putting back energy into his health and music, Shelton's friend adds.

The divorce diet truly exists, Palm Beach Daily News shares, and it can be a dangerous weight loss regimen. Dr. Earl Campazzi from the Island Medical Care explains that based on the "Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale", divorce can be the second most stressful event in a person's life. This type of chronic stress can lead to depression in people who are predisposed.

Yahoo! Music adds that besides losing weight, the 39-year-old "Sangria" singer was reported to be heading down a dangerous road after the split, with his rumored drinking problems getting out of hand. It didn't help that he appeared with a red cup before his iHeartRadio Festival. The singer claims he drinks when he's nervous and this was also backed up by a close friend, who told People Magazine that "It's simply a case of Blake having supersized this persona of him having fun and drinking."

Whether all the rumors are true or not, Shelton wants his fans to know that everything is great with him and he's too busy promoting his latest album "Reloaded" to even care about what others are saying. Case in point, look at how he handled trolls on his Twitter page.
