Award-winning British singer Sam Smith looked exceptionally slim in the music video of his song “Writing’s on The Wall” from the latest James Bond movie, “Spectre”. Sporting a gray, fitted suited and appearing as suave as the 007 agent himself, the “Stay with Me” singer stated that working on this soundtrack can be considered as the highlight of his career. His weight loss definitely came in as second.

Celebrity Health & Fitness reports that Smith shares that he is in a happy place as everything seem to be going well for him. He bagged four Grammys and lost 50 pounds, thanks mainly to the low-carb Paleo diet. The 23-year-old singer shared that his weight loss did not only make him healthy, but it also made him so much happier.

Smith credited the book “Eat Nourish Glow” by nutrition expert Amelia Freer for encouraging him to lose at least a pound per day in order to reach his weight loss goals, The Examiner adds. It included gluten-free and high-protein food choices such as free-range chicken, vegetables and organic eggs. Although not paid to endorse the book, Smith shared how Freer’s book truly transformed his relationship with food, making it an important factor is his weight management journey.

Furthermore, after seeing that he is starting to lose weight, he got motivated to increase his physical activity. A self-confessed couch potato, Smith struggled with weight issues ever since he can remember that is why he considers his 50-lb weight loss a huge success. The “Latch” singer even admitted to trying to kill himself because of his weight, The Daily Mail UK writes.

“I saw a picture of me on New Year's Eve topless on a beach in Sydney. And it made me want to kill myself,” Smith recalled. Since he was a kid, his weight has bothered him and his family. His father even became a fitness trainer just to help him, but nothing worked. Thankfully, his success in the music industry changed his perception and everything about his life.

He went on to explain, “The reality is I can do it now because I have a little more money, and that's the sad thing. It's impossible to eat healthily if you don't have any money.”
