While fans are still processing the news about the delay in the “Kingdom Hearts 3” release, a new interview with game director Tetsuya Nomura was posted online by GamesTM. The creator teased about an Unreal battle system, Disney’s hands-on involvement, and a list of top secret playable characters that will apparently blow everyone’s mind.

According to Nomura, it appears that the Kingdom Hearts franchise will not end any time soon because Disney did not bring the topic up, not even once. However, the series creator believes that Disney will not be able to do each generation or franchise alone hence, it will definitely be a joint force between him and the multimillion dollar company. Fortunately, Nomura is not inhibited by Disney to try anything although he was asked to at least make the ending happier or in a lighter tone to cater to younger fans.

Twin Finite adds that when asked about the skipped PS3 feature, Nomura shared that it was never their intention to jump over the latest console generation; they just didn’t have the time to start the project as the other developers were also busy working on other things. As “Kingdom Hearts 3” will be big, they needed a longer time to prepare which, unfortunately, took over the entire lifespan of the PS3.

Going back to why the release date was pushed back, the game director revealed that it is due to the switch in the game engine and the development of an improved battle system, Master Herald reports. Taking the game engine and changing it to Unreal meant they needed to build everything from scratch, creating better key effects and a new shader for “Kingdom Hearts 3” to make it realistic. It also meant that the developers had to go through several battle systems, using old to new ones, to see which fits the latest franchise the best.

Good thing all their hard work paid off as Sora, the protagonist of the series, will look brand new and will have technical moves like the Keyblade Transformation, which is a vital part of the storyline and battle combat of the game.

Finally, before the interview ended, Nomura coyly refused to reveal how many new characters “Kingdom of Hearts 3” will have, Game Ranx adds. He said, in a fully-loaded statement, “It’s a secret but by saying that we imply that maybe something’s going on. We can’t disclose anything but, maybe, something will happen there.”

“Kingdom Hearts 3” is set to be released in January 2017 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
