Fans of the highly controversial yet popular novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" are quickly losing interest as the second movie in the series, "Fifty Shades Darker," is far from being complete. Reports indicate that the movie is not progressing as quickly or as smoothly as it should.

Movie News Guide gives readers an insight for the continuous delay in production. For one, James Foley will be taking the place of Sam Taylor-Johnson as director of the movie.

According to Yibada, fans have also become displeased with reports that the new script will be created by Niall Leonard, E.L. James' husband. The article states that both the author and Universal Pictures made this decision.

Changing the scriptwriter could be considered good news for the author and might help speed things along. Movie Pilot revealed that during the production of the first movie, James had tremendous difficulty working with the director and did not offer any creative freedom when it came to the script.

Both of the main actors, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, have also admitted to having difficulty playing their roles on camera during the production of Fifty Shades of Grey. According to Yibada reports, changes on set were made instantaneously.

According to Movie Pilot, previous interviews with the two revealed that performing the sex scenes were far from enjoyable as viewers would expect.

During the interviews, Dornan stated that "I had to do stuff to her that I'd never choose to do to a woman." For Johnson, the sex scenes took a toll on her emotionally.

Lack of chemistry is not the only thing missing in this movie. Yibada also states that the movie is also missing a casting director.

In order to get an R rating, Movie Pilot affirms that the raunchier, more tantalizing and risqué scenes had to be scrapped. What remains is a movie with awkward dialogue and chemistry between the characters.

If the delays continue to impede the production of this movie, Movie Pilot speculates that by the time the film is released, there would be no interest left.

According to the same report, E.L. James has released a new book entitled Grey. Although it is not as controversial or as popular as the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, selling a million copies of the book could spark enough interest back into the movie series.

As of this writing, the release date for the movie as not changed. Reports still state that Fifty Shades Darker will be shown in cinemas on Feb. 10, 2017.
