MacBook Air 2016 Release Date & Price Tipped! Top 5 Specs & Features to Expect [Rumors]

There are conflicting rumors about the newest edition MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. According to the report by Australia Network News, the newest laptops could be up for grabs next month together with the iPad Air 3. However, since these devices are allegedly made with Intel Skylake-U processors, there is a possibility that they may only be available next year. The outlet stated that the processors are expected to be made in the last quarter of 2015. There is no official word from Apple so the release date of the 2016 edition MacBook Air and MacBook Pro is still speculation.

No matter the release date, here are the rumored specs and features of the MacBook Air 2016 that Apple fans and buyers can expect:

1.) 13-inch and 15-inch variants

The Air will reportedly have two variants in different sizes, according to Realty Today. According to Latinos Post, the 13-inch version will reportedly have a 4GB RAM with a 128GB memory while the 15-inch one is rumored to have varying internal memories. The first 15-inch version will have a 4GB RAM and 256 GB memory while the second one will have 4GB RAM and 512GB internal memory. The laptops will also be thinner and have a new keyboard.

2.) Intel Skylake processors

As previously mentioned, the new MacBook Air will reportedly come with the latest Skylake-U processors from Intel. The chipsets for the lower-end Air are the 2.4 i5-6300U and 2.3 GHz i5-6200U chipsets, while the higher-end ones will have the 2.6 GHZ i7-6600U or 2.5 GHz i7-6600U processor, according to Mac Rumors. Additionally the Skylake chips will allegedly improve the Air's CPU performance, integrated graphics and are energy efficient as it can prolong battery life by up to 30 percent.

3.) Force Touch Technology

The MacBook Air will reportedly come integrate with Force Touch Technology in its track pad, LP reports. According to The Wall Street Journal, the new feature is a sensor which can determine a light tap from a deep press.

4.) MacBook Air 2016 will be cheaper

In fact, according to Venture Capital Post, the newest Air will be the cheapest Apple laptop ever at $899. Following the rumors that the models will have cheaper and smaller variants, it is safe to say that the 13-inch version will have that price tag.

5.) New OS

In the same report by VCP, the MacBook Air 2016 will reportedly come installed with the latest OS X El Capitan.
