According to a report by Crossmap, "Red Dead Redemption 2" by Rockstar Games is going to happen. There have been speculations that the sequel may be called "Red Dead Revolution" or "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West," as claimed by a report by MNR Daily. The first report claims that the game will be starred by Jack Marston, the son of John while the other one alleges that there will be two main characters. What is true so far is that these are still just speculations. As for the sequel's gaming platform, it can be played on PS4, Xbox One and PC. The PC version can be compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 8.1.

However, the "Red Dead Redemption 2" may come after all as an official blog post from the studio stated that they are happy about the excitement generated by the possible sequel. The reason why it took a long time for the sequel to appear as the first one was released 5 years ago is that Rockstar Games do not hurriedly make the sequels. Additionally, there may be something about the sequel in the announcements slated by the game studio this year.

"As we've mentioned when asked in the past about new games in other series such as Red Dead Redemption, Bully and L.A. Noire, we don't always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won't get to them eventually. We have so many games we want to make and the issue is always one of bandwidth and timing," the blog post stated.

"We thank longtime fans such as yourselves as always for your amazing support and please stay tuned in 2015 for announcements of what's to come from Rockstar Games."

The company's "no-sequel-rushing" etiquette was seconded by Take Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick. In an interview with Game Spot, Zelnick stated that they aim to provide gamers with "better [games], not more" and thinks that their approach is so successful that they always have a big hit franchise every year.

"The risk of just [releasing more games] is that you end up just bulking up your release schedule and that isn't really what consumers want," Zelnick said. "So our selective approach, which we've taken since '07 I think has paid off. Now, we have gotten more by taking that approach; we've launched one new successful franchise every year."

He also called "Red Dead Redemption" a permanent franchise which increases the chances of the sequel happening very soon.
