Disney remains tight-lipped on the sequel to the massive 2013 hit that won the world over with "Let It Go" and the fun characters that inspired children across the globe. The film, which earned a total of $1.274 billion worldwide, set the bar high for the sequel, and details for it have yet to be disclosed by those close to production. However, fans are treated to some early information thanks to interviews by directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee.

1. The sequel will tackle current issues. Frozen debunked the common "true love" theme in most Disney films by showing that love need not be romantic in order to save the day (or in this case, a princess). It talked about familial love, and that is one of the things fans should expect in the sequel. In August, Buck told MTV, "We have two very strong female leads in 'Frozen'. We will keep that going in the next one."

Buck also explained that "We will tackle other issues that, I think, are out there today that boys and girls, men and women, are dealing with."

The Frozen director said, "I think we’re very aware of what is happening in society. I don’t think any of us take [them] lightly, even though they can be very funny and entertaining, the messages that our movies have and the influence they can have on young people. When the kids [watch] them, they watch them over and over again, and if we don’t have a decent message in there, I think we’ve missed an opportunity."

2. The sequel will witness more of Elsa's character development. Frozen saw Elsa let it go literally and figuratively, and Movie Pilot reports that the sequel will delve even deeper into the queen's personality. Buck said, "In Frozen she had such a dramatic journey, and at the end she's just starting to feel like she can open up and have some fun again. That's what was really good about Frozen Fever—we could have fun with Elsa. And that personality... you will see in the next one."

3. The sequel may include flashbacks to Elsa's childhood. M Magazine reported in July that child actress Eva Bella, who voiced the young Elsa in Frozen, went into the recording studio to lay down her parts for the sequel. This means that audiences will see more of younger Elsa, and hopefully younger Anna, if their scenes make the final cut.

Disney hasn't set a release date for the film yet, but iDigitalTimes reports that it will be released sometime in 2018.
