The Black and Red Ranger for the new "Power Rangers" 2017 movie have been unveiled by Lionsgate.

The new rangers were introduced via the movie's official social media accounts. Ludi Lin was cast as the new Black Ranger and Dacre Montgomery has been slated to play Red Ranger. The two were introduced via the "Power Rangers Movie" Instagram.

According to MTV News, Montgomery is new to the field of acting as the movie is his first film ever. Meanwhile, Lin who will be playing the Zack the Black Ranger is certainly not a newcomer as he had a role in Chinese fantasy movie "Monster Hunt" and other short films. According to CBC, Lin is from Beijing but is now based in Vancouver with his family as he studied at the University of British Columbia.

The first member to be announced in the teen crime-fighting team was Naomi Scott who will play the Pink Ranger. She was also introduced via Instagram and through the movie's various social media accounts.

There were initial worries for the casting of the movie as the 90's series originally cast African American Walter Emanuel Jones to play Black Ranger and Asian Thuy Trang as Yellow Ranger. However, the worries have somehow been lifted because of the new cast.

According to Cinema Blend, the 2017 "Power Rangers" will be using the canon happenings after "Power Rangers Dino Charge" while some reports say that the new movie will be "inspired" by the original "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" series. However, news and information regarding the plot is still tightly kept under wraps and as such are still speculation.

According to Design & Trend, the project was first announced by Lionsgate early last year. It will be directed by Dean Israelite who is most famous for his film "Project Almanac." It will be produced by original series creator Haim Saban. The script of the upcoming "Power Rangers" movie will be written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, who were also involved in scriptwriting "Thor" and "X-Men: First Class."

"Might Morphin Power Rangers" was a hit kid's series in the 90's released by Fox Kids TV. According to Variety, its first movie, "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie" was released in 1995. Another movie was released in 1997 called, "Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie."

The "Power Rangers" movie reboot will be in theaters on Jan. 13, 2017.
