If you are in the hunt for the next great game to dedicate your several hours of precious gameplay into, then the "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" better be at the top of your shopping cart list.

The action role-playing game from the CD Projekt RED studio has just bagged the biggest gaming plum for this year 2015. It took home the ultimate game of the year distinction at the Golden Joysticks, the BBC reported. The awarding ceremony was held at the O2 Arena in London last Friday, Oct. 30. The 33rd edition of the biggest gaming award in terms of the number of voters, with more than 9 million votes from the public cast this year alone, was hosted by funnyman and British presenter Danny Wallace.

The "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" was truly the star of the night as it went on to win four other major awards such as the best storytelling, best visual design and best gaming moment. CD Projekt RED also went home recognized as studio of the year, according to Games Radar. It bested the competition such as the other gaming favorites "Batman Arkham Knight" and "Life Is Strange", which ended up as the second and third placers for ultimate game of the year, respectively.

Gameplay

The "Wild Hunt" is the third installment from the "The Witcher" series ("The Witcher" and "The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings") which is based from Polish writer and former economist Andrzej Sapkowski fantasy novels of the same name.

The story revolves around the protagonist Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer, and set in an open world environment where you have the power to pick a point from the horizon and venture out into the unknown. The world of The Witcher is filled with adventures and mystery waiting to be explored, according to the game's website.

Set in a third-person perspective, you can step into the role of Geralt with his mutation-endowed powerful skills and combat spells. On this latest offering, he was commissioned to defeat an immortal, bandit captain named Olgierd von Everec. The game was released back on May 19, 2015 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Review and Update

The game has been well-received and got good reviews from critics since its release, with around 6 million copies sold within its first month and a half in the market. Projekt Red has gotten better in writing the story of the game, plus the charisma of the main character also helps, says The National.

It also comes with 16 free packs of DLC and two expansions--- the "Hearts of Stone" released this October and "Blood And Wine" set for next year. The two expansion passes will give gamers additional hours of two new epic adventures with new characters, sidequests and gears.
