We have had the luxury of comparing some of the more popular and premium flagship mobile devices in the market today. And this time around, we are going to pit two more worthy contenders in a battle royal of epic proportions (at least in the screen size department).

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium and Samsung Galaxy Note 5 have been getting a lot of the share of the spotlight in the phablet wars, lately. So, let us check out the tale of the tape and see how they fare against each other. Oh, and before we get the rumble started, you might want to look at the recap of the previous matches between the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium and Apple iPhone 6S Plus and the Apple iPhone 6S Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

Key Specs, Price and Features

When it comes to the screen size, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 edges out the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium with its slightly bigger screen of 5.7 inches compared to 5.5 inches for the latter. It has an AMOLED quad HD display with Gorilla Glass 4 for protection and a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440-pixel resolution for a pixel density of 518 ppi.

The Z5 Premium, however, comes out with a better display sporting an unrivaled pixel density of 806 ppi in a 2160 x 3840-pixel resolution. This is ten times the pixel density of most full-HD TVs and twice that of most smartphones today. One of the most notable upgrades  for this phone is Sony's choice of making it the world's first 4K smartphone. The display makes use of the IPS LCD screen technology.

In terms of performance and capacity, Z5 Premium runs an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, 64-bit processor, coupled with 3 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 32 GB with a microSD expandable storage of up to 200 GB. It is powered by a 3430mAh non-removable battery.

The Note 5, meanwhile, runs an Exynos 7420 Chipset (Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and Quad-core 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57), coupled with 4GB of RAM. It also has both 32GB and 64GB internal memory configurations, but no card slot for expandable storage. It has a non-removable Li-Po 3000mAh battery.

The Z5 Premium dimensions are 154.4 mm long, 76 mm wide, and 7.8 mm thick. It weighs 180.00 grams. The Note 5 measures 153.2 mm x 76.1 mm x 7.6 mm and weighs 171 grams, GSMArena noted.

Sony has yet to release an official price for the Z5 Premium, but expect it to be higher than the listed price of Xperia Z5, which is around $650. Amazon is currently offering the Note 5 for a discounted price of $634 for the 32GB unlocked version from its listed price of $999.00.
