The G series in LG's line of mobile devices has brought great success for the company, which was once only known for their other electronic products. Well, the Korean smartphone brand still lags behind its more popular competitors, Samsung and Apple, but has since been quietly and steadily trailing both on their heels, thanks largely to the flagship smartphones from the LG G-series.

Consumers who are on the hunt for premium mobile devices nowadays are not looking past the LG premium phones such as LG G3 and G4, more recently. The two smartphones pack a punch in terms of specs and features earning good reviews from critics and buyers alike. And to keep up with the competition, LG is slated to come up with another device to carry them through their smartphone supremacy aspirations. Now, let's check out the upcoming LG G5 and see if it will really live up to.

The device is rumored to have a new security feature that will make use of the user's eyes instead of the already more common fingerprint scanner. The iris scanning technology was developed by a Korean-based biometric specialist and could detect irises from up to 50 cm away, according to Alphr.

The LG G5 could run the 8-core Snapdragon 820 processor at 2.2-3GHz speed and at least 4GB of RAM that could go up to as many as 6GB Ram. It is rumored to be powered by a 4000 mAH battery to keep up with its 5.5 to 5.6-inch 4K display smartphone, KnowYourMobile wrote. It could also incorporate Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 Technology, which recharges the battery 85 percent of its full capacity in just 35 minutes.

LG G5 is also seen to be having an upgrade in the camera department with its 20MP rear camera compared to the G4's already impressive 16 MP. The front camera could have 10MP to beat out all rivals with their usual 5MPs.

As for the price, there have been rumors that it could be tagged at $900. And, there are also those who expect the LG G5 to debut before the year ends, but judging from the release date of LG G3 and G4, the upcoming device could be sold early in 2016.

Meanwhile, LG decided to release a new variant of the LG G4 model in white and gold color. In a move that aim to entice the female and younger demographics, the change in aesthetics gives the new variant white back and front with the sides gilded in gold. This is the same color combination found in the LG V10 model.

Unfortunately, for the fans who would want to get hold of the LG G4 white and gold in the U.S. and Europe, the smartphone maker only released the new device in their home soil in South Korea. There is no confirmation as of yet when the new variant will hit the international market. Apart from the change in color, it has no upgrade or any modifications whatsoever from the other G4 variants, wrote Android Central.
