Thanksgiving and Christmas are almost here and with these major holidays come a multitude of invitations to go and party with friends or co-workers. It can be difficult to say no to a night filled with drinking and socializing.

Contrary to popular belief, there is no definite cure for hangovers. Compiled here are five recipes to help lessen the effects of last night's drinking.

1.    Berry omelet

Need to get back to work right away? No need to worry as this recipe from BBC Good Food is sure to give you the energy you need to start feeling like a functional human being again.

All you need to make this quick and energizing breakfast meal is a large egg, skimmed milk, cinnamon, rapeseed oil, cottage cheese and berries such as blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. If you looking for a sweeter fix, add a tsp of honey to the mix.

2.    Breakfast pie

Eat a hearty and filling breakfast with this recipe from Sobur. To make this pie, you need breakfast sausage, onions, green bell peppers, biscuit dough, eggs, milk and Colby-Monterey Jack Cheese.

What makes this recipe great for hangovers is the use of eggs. The eggs contain vitamin B which helps the body in coping with stress and reverse the effects of alcohol.

3.    Matcha hangover helper

Going on an alcohol binge can make you lose a lot of fluids and give you a pounding headache. Replace those lost fluids with this drink from Shape.

To make this drink, you need some coconut water, sea sat and matcha green tea powder. Just mix it all in a glass and take a gulp.

Shape says the coconut water and sea salt can help you get rehydrated while the matcha contains caffeine which can help soothe a massive headache.

4.    Kimchi fried rice

Cooking for a group of four friends or colleagues with a massive hangover? This popular South Korean dish can help wake up the senses.

Serious Eats says cooking this dish requires vegetable oil, kimchi, butter, red pepper paste, day old white rice, sesame oil, eggs, seaweed, scallions and black pepper. According to the author, the butter adds a creamy taste to the dish while the crushed seaweed adds a unique texture and taste.

5.    Yummy yogurt parfait

Sobur recommends this sweet dessert to get the lost fluids back into your body. What you need to make this creamy concoction is strawberries, blueberries, almonds, granola and vanilla yogurt.

Mix it all together in a single glass and you are done! Sobur says the almonds inside this parfait gives you an added dose of magnesium which helps get your enzymes functioning again while keeping you hydrated.
