Brace yourselves Shamy fans! A prodigious event in television is about to unfold and it might just change life as we know it.

Warning: Spoiler Alert!

It has been quite a while already since Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler began dating each other. And now after exercising a lot of chastity on their part (although, we know that was really all about Sheldon's callousness on the subject matter), they are finally going at it.

And, in what would go down as one of the most epic and highly-anticipated (or maybe not) scenes of the hit comedy series "The Big Bang Theory," for the first time, the two brilliant scientists will be making love—or shall we call it "coitus," borrowing from the lexicon of the great Sheldon Cooper.

The monumental scene where the pair would be making out was already filmed, which tapes in front of a live studio audience, on Nov. 17 and is scheduled for broadcast on Dec. 17, according to the Chicago Tribune. "The Big Bang Theory" airs every Thursday at 8:00 p.m. on CBS. So, make sure you mark your calendar.

"After over five years of dating, we felt the time was right for Sheldon and Amy to finally consummate their relationship, and we're so excited for the audience to see the journey over the next several episodes," said executive producer Steve Molaro.

We still have to tune in for the upcoming episodes leading to the big one because there are still issues between the two beloved characters that have to be resolved. For one, they are still on a "break up" status.

The two characters are played by Jim Parsons (Sheldon) and Mayim Bialik (Amy) and will both be engaging in their first sex as a couple as two virgins, which the fans of the series are privy to. US Weekly also reports that the episode will seemingly have a "Star Wars" theme and also involve guest star Bob Newhart, who plays the role of Arthur Jeffries, a scientist and TV show host whom Sheldon considers as a childhood hero.

Sheldon and Amy are still not together for the meantime after their split, to the dismay of a lot of their fans, in the season 8 finale. There are efforts on the part of Sheldon to win back Amy who is still asking for some distance between them. The hit comedy series also stars Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Melissa Rauch and Kunal Nayyar.
