Those who are looking to find the GoPro Hero 5 under their Christmas trees this year will have to wait, as contrary to past press releases that said the new GoPro would be unveiled in October, there's still no word on when the much-awaited gadget will hit stores. In fact, VC Post reports that it may take another few months before GoPro releases any official statements on the status of the Hero 5, which they are still tweaking to provide the ultimate moment-capturing experience ever. Here are a few specs and features that are rumored to be in the latest iteration of the GoPro Hero.

1. Waterproof. Just like its predecessors, the GoPro 5 will boast of a waterproof camera that will work up to 60 meters below the surface. Imagine diving into the depths of coral reefs and capturing sea life just like Nat Geo professionals. What an experience!

2. High-definition. GoPro Hero 4 boasts of a 4K resolution, but this new iteration is slated to provide an 8K resolution, according to Day Herald. The Full Ultra HD resolution feature is definitely something users will be attracted to, as it can provide amazing picture quality

3. 3D imaging and motion. Rumors have it that on top of the impressive high definition resolution, the GoPro will also be able to capture 3D images and motion through its dual lens.

4. Smaller and more lightweight. The GoPro Hero is a staple for travelers and extreme sports enthusiasts, which is why it's imperative that its weight is ideal for mobility. The GoPro Hero 5 is reportedly going to be smaller, more lightweight, weighing 40 percent less than measuring 50 percent less than its predecessors.

5. Firm hardware. To top off the amazing functions of the new GoPro Hero 5, it will also feature a powerful A10 chip that delivers excellent performance during the most exhilarating experiences ever and a sturdy housing for underwater shooting. No more missing amazing moments due to faulty hardware. Additionally, users may expect an extended battery life of up to two hours of video shooting from single charging or 2800 mAH, as per Vine Report.

The GoPro Hero 5 is reportedly going to fall within the $500 to $600 range, a very reasonable price tag given the abovementioned features. It would be critical for GoPro to set a price that's fair, given its competition. Make sure to check back for updates on the GoPro Hero 5 release coming next year.
