LG flagship devices have always been a worthy competitor in the league of mobile devices big boys, giving more popular makers like Apple and Samsung a run for their money. But, one category that has always been the cause of constant nitpicking from critics and consumers is the Korean smartphones' build.

While the most premium smartphones lately have already incorporated a metal and even glass chassis, the current device from the G series, the LG G4, is still sporting a plastic body. But, now rumors have it that LG could be heading in the same direction as its rivals in terms of using high-end materials to encase their flagship smartphone.

The LG G5 could be built out of a full metal unibody if the reports from the company's home country are true, according to a report from G for Games. But, that is what we know so far in terms of the details and there are no reports yet regarding the type of material to be used for the LG G5 chassis.

It seems like LG is also keen on adopting the strategy of other makers like Samsung, Apple, and Sony in releasing their flagship device with another variant that is bigger and a bit better version. Sony, for instance, has the Xperia Z5 premium to go along with the Xperia Z5, while Apple has the iPhone 6S Plus.

If the LG G5 and G5 Pro will take a page from their rivals' playbook, it can be expected that the difference between the two models apart from the screen size would have to be in the resolution and battery department. These differences between the two are just natural considering that the G5 Pro with bigger display should be powered by a battery with larger capacity and resolution with a higher pixel per inch density.

Since some of the reports have said that the LG G5 would probably have a 5.5-inch display, the G5 pro could have a 5.7-inch screen rivaling that of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. As for the specs, the two LG smartphones are expected to run the 8-core Snapdragon 820 processor at 2.2-3GHz speed paired with at least 4GB of RAM.

The battery capacity is rumored to be 4000 mAH, KnowYourMobile wrote. For the rear camera, there could be an upgrade from G4's 16 MP to about 20 MP while the front camera could have 10MP.

As for the price, the LG G5 could command a price of around $900 as was previously reported. The G5 Pro, then, which is expected to more expensive, could cost somewhere in the $1,000 range. This is a bit of a letdown considering that the $900 price tag is already higher compared to those of the other flagship smartphones. According to Crossmap, LG could be announcing the release date of LG G5 at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) early 2016.
