Things were looking up for American actress Hayden Panettiere after she was seen looking fit and happy while throwing her support for fiancé and boxer Wladimir Klitschko during his heavyweight bout for the IBF World Championship in Duesseldorf, Germany.

While it was not the result the couple was hoping for, as Klitschko was beaten by his opponent Tyson Fury, Panettiere, nevertheless, looked like she was really past her battle against postpartum depression, a condition she was just recently treated for, the Celebrity Health and Fitness wrote.

Apart from her positive aura, she also flaunted her 40-pound lighter body after she gave birth to her daughter. Panettiere admitted that she really gained a lot of weight while carrying the baby, but also shared that she was able to shed the pounds away by going for an active lifestyle and sticking to a diet.

Panettiere who was also part of the hit NBC series "Heroes" portraying the role of cheerleader Claire Bennet said that before she got pregnant she was only weighing 106 pounds. And, she was able to keep it at that by adhering to a portion-controlled diet and by doing some daily workouts, which included Bikram yoga, weightlifting, walking, running, hiking, swimming and Pilates. But, her figure got bigger during pregnancy and she tipped the scale at 145 pounds during the period.

After giving birth to her baby in December of 2014, Panettiere suffered from severe depression. This was something she openly talked about during the talk show "Live with Kelly and Michael." Just this October 2015, she took a break from her popular TV show "Nashville" and voluntarily checked into treatment for postpartum depression.

"It's something I can very much relate to," the actress said. "It's something a lot of women experience. It's something that needs to be talked about. Women need to know they're not alone and it does heal."

Incidentally, Panettiere's character, Juliette Barnes, in "Nashville" is also battling postpartum depression, but this was just purely coincidental as the story line was written before Panettiere even revealed that she was suffering from the condition, the US Weekly reported.

According to the Mayo Clinic, postpartum depression could be mistaken for baby blues but the signs and symptoms are more intense and last longer. It is important to deal with the condition in order to avoid rendering the patient incapable of taking care of the baby and performing daily tasks. Symptoms may include severe mood swings, depressed mood, excessive crying and difficulty bonding with your baby.
