With myriads of apps to choose from, cherry picking the best Android apps for your device can get really quite discombobulating. Good thing, there are always those who are very much willing to lend a hand in this unenviable task of choosing your next app.

Google just recently announced its top picks from an overwhelming selection of existing apps, numbering in millions, from the Play Store this year. "We are proud to present the 'Best of 2015' selection with our must-have apps of the year! Whether you want to create the most stunning photos, beautify your screen, send greetings to your family or listen to the hottest songs, you can find them all here," Google wrote.

The lineup of Google's favorite apps for the year lists some of the well-known and widely-used apps like Skype, Google Translate, Microsoft Word and Wikipedia. The exclusive list also include some of the most recommended apps from around the world like Google Photos, Colorfy, Twitch, Dubsmash and djay.

Apps like Flipagram, Robinhood, Language Learning, HBO Now, Showtime and Google's very own YouTube Kids, Fox News reported. When it comes to gaming apps, the choice included "Argar.io," "Walking Dead: Road to Survival," "PewDiePie: Legend of Brofist" and "Fallout Shelter," as well as, those more popular games like "Minecraft: Story Mode," "Candy Crush Soda Saga," "Need for Speed: No Limits" and "Madden NFL Mobile."

In the general category, apps like Retrica, Touchpal Emoji Keyboard, Colorfy, Candy Camera, SwiftKey Keyboard and Z Camera also made the list.

Android Police surmised that the items in the list may simply have been based from the already available ratings and from the popularity of these apps in their respective categories or in the number of times these apps were downloaded by Android users. The site even went as far as to saying that this list may not have been "carefully curated at all."

They cited Google's choice of Twitter as one of the best communication apps, arguing that there is nothing impressive about its interface. The choice may have been influenced by the fact that Twitter is getting a lot of recommendations across the U.S. this 2015.

Last year in 2014, Google also came up with the same list and included Wunderlist: To-Do List & Tasks and SwiftKey Keyboard for the productivity category, TED and Lumosity for educational apps, Hulu and Comedy Central for Entertainment, Shazam and Pandora in Music and Audio, and Yahoo News Digest and BuzzFeed for News, according to Time.
