Apple iOS 9.2 download, beta, update & issues: should you really upgrade?

Apple released the iOS 9.2 for download but what features are available and is it worth upgrading for?

In the official Apple website, the company listed the improvements brought upon by iOS 9.2, the newest update.

The first on the list are improvements of the Apple Music where users can download albums and playlists from the iCloud Music Library via the iCloud download button. Users can also now create a new playlist when adding new songs to a playlist as well.

There is now a Top Stories section in the News app but it is only available for the U.S., U.K., and Australia.

For mail users, they can now use Mail Drop for sending large files. Podcasts and Safari have improved stabilities now. Audiobooks can play while users browse through their iBooks library and they can even use 3D Touch to scan the table of contents as well. Siri can now support Arabic and the 10-key Chinese keyboards have increased punctuation input.

For those who are updating to the newest iOS, they won't have to worry about their alarm not waking them up next morning. That issue has been fixed as well among many other notable things.

The iOS 9.2 is 250MB in size and compatible for iPhone 4S phones up to the latest smartphone and the iPad 2, iPad mini, iPad Pro and 5th generation iPad touch. Apple has also stated that the new update should fix or improve lag issues on the iPad Pro.

Since its release, users have complained about the problems they have encountered with the 9.2. According to Gotta Be Mobile, various users have run into several issues including: Touch ID problems, Apple Music, keyboard bugs, installation problems, Wi-Fi issues, clipboard issues, personal hotspot issues and many more. The website has a helpful list of 10 common problems and fixes for users of the new iOS update. For those who find their update issues and bugs too tedious and want to downgrade to iOS 9.1, they may do so but for a limited time only. Here is a downgrade guide.

According to Forbes, the iOS 9.2 has no jailbreak. No one has been able to get through the fortified Apple security as the 9.1 has no jailbreak as well.

In other news, Apple has also released smaller updates for the Apple Watch, Apple TV and the Mac OS X operating system. The watchOS 2.0 includes fixes for bugs and language support and can be downloaded through the device. Apple TV users can find the tvOS 9.1 update through the Settings channel and installing it will add Remote app where the iPhone and iPad can control the TV and input data, CNET reports. The OS X 10.11.2 for Mac laptops and desktops have improved compatibility, security, and stability and can be downloaded from the Mac App Store.
