Many Android users are already waiting for the brand new "Android 7.0 N." Nonetheless, they won't be taking a glimpse of it until later in 2016, according to Techno Buffalo. Fortunately, Google is generous enough to share one of its key features!

The hint that the upcoming new version of Android will be supporting split screen has been given by the team behind Pixel C during the Reddit AMA. According to the team, this feature is currently under development.

Andrew Bowers, the director for Google's consumer hardware, said that they are currently working on things for Android N right now. These things are those features that they hoped they had given to the users even before. He also said that they would be spoiling the fun if they would tell everything about the brand new features. At the end of his statement, he confirmed that split-screen support is currently in the works.

Aside from the features, its name has also been very controversial as many people are interested to know it before its official release. For now, there is still no official name. Thus, the public still calls it as Android 7.0 N. Why "N?" It is because according to PC Advisor, Google has always followed the alphabetical letter. Tracing back the names of its previous Android versions, the software update should be named with a word starting with letter "N."

Nacho, Nougat, and Nutella are just some of the rumored names circulating around. These names are considered because Google likes to name their Android after a sweet treat—Cupcake, Donut, Éclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jellybean, KitKat, Lollipop, and Marshmallow. Isn't it too obvious that the next one will be named after a sweet treat starting with letter "N?"

Also, its official release date has been the talk of the town. The only thing that is confirmed is that it will be released next year in Google I/O 2016. However, there is still no certain date as to when this event or the official release will take place.

There are some who said that the initial launching will be between May to June 2015. The initial launching will not feature the complete or final Android update. On the other hand, the Times of India reported that it is likely that the final version of Android N will be launched in the late 2016 - most likely in October 2016 just like what many expect.
