It has been a good year for Subaru of America, Inc. thus far, with the company experiencing its eighth year of sales growth and seventh successive sales record. And, even before the month of December was ushered in, the sales record has already surpassed that of 2014's annual sales record of 513,693 units.

And now, here comes the 2016 Subaru WRX, which is expected to provide another boost for the company's sales campaign for the coming year. Things are really looking up with the accolades and improvements the WRX has gotten as it looks to impress most buyers in the market today. Here are some of the reasons why the new Subaru WRX is one of the best cars you'll buy this 2016.

1. Kelley Blue Book, a widely-respected car valuation company in the U.S., has just named the 2016 Subaru WRX as one of its top ten overall winners for 2016 cars with the best resale value. Based on KBB's projected values, the WRX will retain 61 percent of its value after 36 months and 49 percent after 60 months of ownership, which is better than the average resale values among 2016 cars in general, which will only retain 35 percent of their values after five years.

2. The new WRX will be part of the 2016 Subaru lineup of vehicles, which have just earned the 2016 Top Safety Pick Award and the 2016 Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), an independent, nonprofit scientific and educational organization dedicated to reducing the deaths, injuries and property damage from crashes on the nation's roads, according to a news release from Subaru via PR Newswire.

The WRX is just one of the few vehicles that were able to meet the high standards from IIHS, wherein the vehicles need to earn the highest possible rating in all five crashworthiness evaluations and when equipped with the optional EyeSight, achieving a "Superior" rating for front crash prevention.

3. The new Subaru car also brought home another prestigious award, this time, from Wards Auto. The 2016 WRX also made the list for Wards 10 best engines winners for its engine specs of 2.0L turbocharged boxer-4 capable of delivering 268 HP, while registering a fuel efficiency of 28.8 MPG.

4. KBB was also impressed by the good handling of the WRX without sacrificing the comforts of a good ride, especially when tackling rough pavements. "It's especially surprising considering Subaru engineers stiffened virtually every steering, chassis and suspension component," notes KBB. "The Subaru WRX is a car that's easy to enjoy every day, not just at the race track or rally course.

5. In its review of the WRX, Edmunds noted some of the car's features like 17-inch wheels and summer performance tires, a trunk-lid spoiler, cruise control, sport front seats, automatic climate control, a 4.3-inch vehicle information display, a height-adjustable driver seat, a tilt-and-telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel, a rearview camera, 60/40-split fold-down rear seatbacks, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity and Subaru's Starlink six-speaker infotainment system with 6.2-inch touchscreen, satellite and HD radio, CD player, USB interface and auxiliary input and smartphone integration.

The WRX is truly one of the best in its class upon its release date and considering that this 2016 Subaru, which only comes available as a five-seater sedan, starts at an entry-level price of just under $28,000.
