Adele has made a lot of sacrifices since becoming a mother to her three-year-old son Angelo. One of these "sacrifices" actually proved to be good for the "Hello" hitmaker's health, as Adele finally decided to quit her smoking vice.

Mirror reported that Adele used to enjoy smoking 25 cigarettes a day, but she eventually realized the consequences of this following the loss of her voice in 2012.

"If I'd carried on smoking I'd probably have died from a smoking-related illness and I think that's really bad," the Grammy-winner told the news outlet. "If I was dying from lung cancer I would have potentially given it to myself and that wouldn't be something I'd be proud of."

Adele underwent throat surgery after doctors found a polyp in her vocal chords, which had been hemorrhaging, according to CBS News. But now, the singer revealed her doctors actually warned her she could lose her voice, and perhaps even her life, if she didn't stop smoking.

Cancer runs in her genes as her father, Mark Evans, was diagnosed with the disease in 2012. Adele's grandfather also died of bowel cancer in 1999, per The Sun. But more than this, Adele realized she should actually quit smoking because she has a baby boy depending on her.

"I absolutely loved it [smoking], but it's not that f--king cool when I'm dying from a smoking-related illness and my kid is, like, devastated," she told Rolling Stones in an interview last November. In the same feature, Adele also admitted she has stopped drinking alcohol and changed her diet by limiting her sugar intake.

When she takes her tea, Adele now only makes sure to take six teaspoons full or about 24 grams of sugar, or none at all. "I used to drink ten cups a day with two sugars in each so I was on 20 sugars a day. Now I don't drink it and I have more energy than ever," she said, per News Corp Australia.

Adele is complementing her diet and lifestyle change with exercises, which is why her weight loss has become noticeable. She has already lost 21 pounds, per Parent Herald.

The singer's improving physical health is helping her cope with the strenuous demands of her work, especially Adele is preparing for a highly-anticipated world tour in 2016. The Verge reported that about 10 million people demanded tickets for Adele's upcoming series of shows in America, but only 750,000 were available.
