Han Solo was really one shrewd guy from the galaxy far, far away. His street smarts and years of training as a savvy mercenary and smuggler were, apparently, still in play when he was able to land himself one of the biggest deals of his life.

Harrison Ford, who just reprised the role of Han Solo in the current "Star Wars" installment, is reportedly taking home a paycheck worth somewhere in the vicinity of $10 to $20 million, according to an article from Variety. In another report from the Daily Mail, on the other hand, tips the man's salary at around $24.8 million.

"Harrison is the key to making this movie work. He's the link between the old generation and the new. Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher were good to get, but the film could have lived without them. You couldn't make it without Harrison Ford," a Disney source told the Daily Mail.

On top of this large sum of upfront payment, the seasoned Hollywood actor is bound to receive additional payments as part of the back-end bonus from the box-office success of the film. And, considering the "Stars Wars: The Force Awakens" record-breaking reception from moviegoers globally, it looks like Chewie's co-pilot and best bud is really in for a huge payday.

The 73-year-old Ford also has a 0.5 percent share of the film's gross earnings, which could be worth another $9.6 million if the film hits $2bn at the global box office, The Guardian also reported.

"The basic figure is more than 56 times the $450,000 flat fee received by British newcomers John Boyega and Daisy Ridley—who will also start to receive a cut once the film grosses $1bn worldwide—and crucially, 17 times the $1.5m sum Carrie Fisher is due to receive for returning to the role of Leia Organa," the report says.

Mark Hamill who plays Luke Skywalker will also earn almost the same amount as Fisher while Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) and Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) will take home paychecks that are said to be in the mid- to high-six figures, according to Variety.

It is said that Driver and Isaac had bigger salaries, as compared to Boyega and Ridley, because of the pair's fixed quotes from previous film and TV work. Meanwhile, the younger newcomers for the film are expected to re-negotiate their contracts for the upcoming films in the trilogy. And, with the film's success, the main cast's paychecks including those backend deals are expected to shoot up moving forward.
