Most foods prepared during the holidays are less than healthy and if you have taken it upon yourself to not consume more than you have to but still did, here are after-morning breakfasts to offset your high caloric intake the night before.

1.) Pumpkin Chai French Toast

French toast is always a staple breakfast food but when you add pumpkin and the aromatic flavor of chai, it becomes a tad more special and therefore, worthy of being served during the holidays. This recipe from The Healthy Maven is gluten-free, low-calorie, filling, easy-to-make and most of all, delicious! If you've never had pumpkin chai-flavored French toast before, this is a good opportunity to do so! The best part is, you can make this for or with your loved ones and try something new together.

2.) Banana Pecan Coconut Baked Oatmeal

If you're not the type of person to wake up early to make breakfast, this recipe from Peanut Butter Fingers will delight you. Oatmeal is another staple breakfast food and while it is simple to prepare, taking it to the next level by adding extra good ingredients like banana, pecan and coconut will let you enjoy it better.

This recipe hads no added sugar or oils so it's perfect if you've helped yourself to copious amounts of cookies, cakes or eggnogs the night before. It's another way of getting you fresh fruits in your system because you can pair it with blueberries, cranberries or strawberries.

3.) Mocha Latte Breakfast Quinoa

If you need a helping of protein with quinoa, try adding it with coffee, chocolate and coconut and you will have the best breakfast of your life. This recipe is from Fit Foodie Finds and yes, chocolate is sweet but it can be an acceptable breakfast food if you use the vegan kind. Who knew combining, brewed coffee, coconut water, coconut cream and vegan choco chips could be super satisfying? You need to try it for yourself to know!

4.) Green Shakshuka w/ Smoky Socca

For those who need eggs in the morning but don't want it overgreasy or too heavy, try this recipe from Dolly and Oatmeal. Shakshuka is a dish of poached eggs with tomato sauce and various spices and vegetables usually onions and cumin so the color is usually red. This recipe however is green and the color is taken from green peppers, cilantro and tomatillos.

5.) Coconut Bacon

We've listed most breakfast staples and bacon is bound to have an appearance. However, since bacon isn't too healthy for those who are watching their weight or those who are generally concerned for their heart health, we offer this healthier alternative from Cookie and Kate which is coconut bacon. It's vegan and the blog claims it is crispy, salty, and sweet just like the real thing. You'll never know until you find out and make some!
