When Latina superstar Jennifer Lopez hosted the American Music Awards (AMA) in November 2015, she went through at least ten costume changes. The process isn't so simple and the singer admitted she ended up being badly hurt because of her work.

"I had scratches and bruises everywhere from trying on so much stuff," Jennifer confessed in an exclusive interview with InStyle, where the 46-year-old Grammy winner is gracing the magazine's February issue. Despite her injuries, Jennifer went on with the show and acknowledged that the costume changes are just part of the deal as a performer who has to look beautiful and presentable on stage.

"I'm not going to try to be a comedian. I'm just going to play to my strengths," she revealed, per Daily Mail. "I'm a singer, I'm a dancer and I'm a performer. I've always wanted to be a singer and a dancer and an actress since I was very young."

After the hosting gig, Jennifer will be back to her duties as one of the judges on "American Idol" Season 15 on Fox. However, she's also excited about another television project as her drama series, "Shades of Blue," is set to debut this January on NBC, per Variety.

Jennifer plays a Latin American single mother who works as a cop with the NYPD and the actress acknowledged her work on the show is very important, especially when women over 40-years-old women sees her as an inspiration. "I feel like I knew nothing in my 20s, but I thought I knew everything, and in my 30s I kind of realized I knew nothing, and I feel like now I'm starting to accept myself for who I am," she said on Today.

The Hollywood star is grateful to be part of the show when actresses of a certain age are challenged by finding good roles. "There was always a moment where they going to try and write you off. It's like, don't write us off at a certain point in our lives. We have so much to offer," she added in the interview.

The "Let's Get Loud" hitmaker is also set to perform in Las Vegas for her very first Planet Hollywood residency. The series of shows will begin Jan. 20 and performance schedules have been booked until June 2016 so far, per Planet Hollywood. "Compared with an arena, Vegas is very intimate. I see this show as a chance for people to spend an evening with me and really get to know me," Jennifer told InStyle about her Las Vegas gig.
