"Jurassic World" was a blockbuster hit and, due to its success, many are looking forward to its sequel. "Jurassic World 2" is still over two years away, but the hype about the film continues to grow. New reports about the film suggested that the original characters might return in the upcoming film.

According to Movie News Guide, there is a possibility that apart from Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who lead "Jurassic World," the anticipated film "Jurassic World 2" may also include Laura Dern and Sam Neill.

Dern portrayed Dr. Ellie Sattler in the 1993 "Jurassic Park" film. On the other hand, Neill played Dr. Alan Grant in the 1993 and 2001 film. "Jurassic World" hinted the return of these characters on its Twitter account where it wrote, "If@starwars can include original cast in their new trilogy, so can @JurassicPark! RT if you agree! #JurassicWorld."

Director Colin Trevorrow, the one who helmed "Jurassic World," confirmed that he will not be directing the sequel but he is involved with the development of "Jurassic World 2." In fact, he took the time to respond to a fan's suggestion of bringing back the memorable match of T-Rex and the infamous Spinosaurus in a rematch.

In his response, Trevorrow wrote: "@_Ernesto_Jose_ noted, my friend." Although he did not confirm that the rematch will be featured in "Jurassic World 2," fans were pleased that their petition was given some consideration, Vine Report has learned.

Per Christian Today, a Facebook group was made where fans pour out their petition for a T-Rex and Spinosaurus rematch. The fan-favorite T-Rex met its unexpected demise in the hands of the notorious Spinosaurus, which is now considered to be the new king in "Jurassic Park 3."

Fans were very dismayed with the scene and wanted a rematch in "Jurassic World 2."

"You never saw any fans asking for a T-Rex to lose a fight a mutant, only to be saved by a raptor and a mosasaurus," the petitioners wrote. "Much less 'solve' the issue by having a T-Rex smash a Spino skeleton... Very unsatisfying," they added, expressing their intentions for a possible rematch with a new winner this time.

At the time, it is not yet confirmed if the rematch and the return of the old characters will be featured in "Jurassic World 2." However, it is confirmed that there will be reversals of roles between Owen (Pratt) and Clare (Dallas Howard).

"It's her [Clare] story that mirrors this changing world. Owen has s*** to deal with. The two of them opened Pandora's Box in Jurassic World and each of them are responsible for different elements of it in different ways," Trevorrow said.

"Jurassic World 2" will premiere on June 22, 2018.
