Just when shows on Netflix such as the new “Jessica Jones,” Master of None” and “Orange is the New Black” entertains fans, a new multi-year deal between the American multinational provider of on-demand Internet streaming media and DreamWorks Animation will bring more exciting content to all fans' enjoyment.

The deal, which is an expansion of the current deal between the two entities, gives Netflix the exclusive rights to stream new original series all around the world except China, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

In a press release, it is explained that the deal also covers the rights to DWA's feature film library which includes famous franchise titles such as “Kung Fu Panda,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” "Madagascar,” and “Puss in Boots.”

Netflix plans to release several new DWA series within this year, one of which is a remake of the 1980's animated cartoon “Voltron.” Those who were able to watch the original animated show will remember that it was about five characters piloting five robot lions that combine to form the mighty robot “Voltron,” dubbed the “Defender of the Universe.”

Voltron” is best remembered by fans as a rival to “Transformers” which was released during the same time period, Slashfilm reported. Although efforts to make live-action adaptations of the beloved franchise have been kept at bay, the “Voltronlegacy lives on in the form of clothing, toys, games, as well as incarnations like the one titled “Voltron Force.”

Another title that Netflix plans to release is “Trollhunters,” a fantasy series created by Oscar-nominated director Guillermo del Toro. This new show “will unleash a new, fantastical world wrapped around two best friends who make a startling discovery beneath their hometown.”

The deal between both companies as well as the project to sponsor new content from someone like del Toro appears to be a “smart move,” said Screen Rant. Should the remake and the new series deliver what it promises, both Netflix and DWA are sure to rake in more revenue for themselves – while giving viewers something entertaining and worthwhile to watch.

DreamWorks Animation president Ann Daly said that they are happy with the new agreement.

“We are proud to work closely with Netflix to continue delivering high-quality programming to audiences around the world,” she said.

Cindy Holland, Netflix Vice President of Original Series, said that they're happy too.

It's with great pleasure," Holland explained, "that we expand on an already successful relationship with DreamWorks Animation to bring more premium kids and family television to Netflix members globally.”
