The Mexican-American model, entrepreneur and film actress has learnt an important lesson in life from her elder kinsfolks. And, it could be credited for her youthful glow even at the age of 49.

In an interview with People, Salma Hayek shared that she was handed down with a word of wisdom by her mom and grandmother about a beauty secret akin to finding the elixir of youth. "I had a great mother who gave [beauty advice] to me, which is -- wash your face before you go to sleep - no matter what," she said. "She and my grandmother told me, 'You have to do this for yourself. Just think about how much faster you're going to age if you don't.'"

When it comes to plastic surgery, the "Desperado" and "Grownups" star said that she is not much of a risk-taker, but she is not also closing her doors on it in the future.

"I don't really take big risks when it comes to beauty," she said. "I think a big risk is (getting) plastic surgery. I'm very conservative in my beauty routine. I don't know if I would never get plastic surgery. I'm not planning on it right now."

But, when it comes to botox, Hayek has a stronger stand. She said that she does not believe in it, especially, in doing it at a very young age. "They keep telling young girls, 'Do it young, so you never get wrinkles.' No, your face is going to fall. You'll have to keep getting more and more and more each time. So if you're going to do it, I recommend doing it as late as you can."

As for some workout tips, she encourages finding ways to incorporate a workout into your daily activities, says Vogue. Hayek explained that, while, she does not have much time to do some exercise activities, she makes sure that her activities during the day are some sort of working out in a way.

She cited this one person from London whom she worked with and taught her a way to hold her body in such a way that she is like doing a workout even with such mundane activities like brushing teeth.

"You can brush your teeth like this (slouches) or like this (stands up straight with her elbow at shoulder height). She has really transformed my body. Just be conscious of holding your body in the right position; don't go up the stairs with your knees, go up with your butt!" she said.
