'Star Wars: Episode 8' Release Date, Trailer & Plot: See List of Actors Favored to Play the Young Han Solo in Spinoff Film

After the massive success of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," fans are raving to see more of the legendary franchise on the big screen. Now, Disney has announced another "Star Wars" spinoff, which will focus solely on the young Han Solo. Just Jared reports that the list of possible actors to play as young Han Solo has been narrowed down.

According to Entertainment Weekly, because Harrison Ford, who never played a young Han Solo on his "Star Wars" films, the best move for Disney is to find someone unknown just like what they did to Daisy Ridley. The one who will play as a young Han Solo also has to imbibe his character's older version, including his "cockiness" and "real rough charm."

Here are some of the actors that could play the young Han Solo in the new "Star Wars" spinoff, per Variety.

Miles Teller

Teller has played charming but rough characters in his roles on "The Spectacular Now" and "Whiplash," which will fit perfectly to Han Solo's character. The 28-year-old American actor even had earned recognition for his role as Sutter Keely, proving that he has the acting chops for the job.

Ansel Elgort

Of course, Elgort, one of the rising stars today, is also in the running as the young Han Solo. According to Entertainment Weekly, Elgort has a "charmingly roguish affection" while still being a "romantic figure" as seen in his hit film "Fault in our Stars." Also, Elgort can be a bad boy too such as his TFIOS' character, Augustus Waters. This romantic bad boy combination coincides with Han Solo's character, making Elgort a contender for the role.

Dave Franco

Franco, who starred in "21 Jump Street" and "Now You See me" is also in the running for the coveted role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, 30-year-old Franco was one of the 2,500 actors who have auditioned to play the rebel space pirate.

Others on Variety's list are Jack Reynor ("Transformers: Age of Extinction," "Macbeth"), Scott Eastwood ("Fury," "Suicide Squad"), Logan Lerman ("Perks of Being a Wallflower," "Percy Jackson"), Emory Cohen ("Brooklyn," "The Place Beyond the Pines) and Blake Jenner ("Glee," "Everybody Wants Some").

Even though the untitled film's projected release is still on May 25, 2018, Variety claims that the early casting for the young Han Solo might also have something with "Rogue One: A Star Wars," which is currently filming. It is speculated that whoever will be chosen as the young Han Solo might have a cameo role in the said film before the said spinoff.
