Most Americans love the starchy taste of potatoes and would love to have it fried, baked or mashed. But did you know that there's another starchy root vegetable that you can enjoy in a lot of ways?

Yucca, or cassava, is one of the staples in Latin American cuisine, PopSugar stated. Its deliciously starchy flavor and taste is complimented with its ability to help fight against inflammation and even high blood pressure.

To help you enjoy this yummy superfood, here are eight recipes that will allow you to taste its goodness in different ways. Have fun cooking!

Yucca Fries with Mojo Mayonnaise

This yummy recipe from Salt & Wind gives a hearty take on the usual french fries which uses potatoes. Just grab some yuca root, make the Mojo Mayo, and you're off to a great snacktime with your friends.

Boiled Yuca Root

The good guys at The Roasted Root shares the recipe of what seems to be a great side dish to roasted and barbecued meats. Just peel off the skin from some yuca roots, cut into chunks, boil then enjoy!

Alternatively, you can chop the yuca into chunks before peeling, then peel it after chopping into chunks (got confused there?). Boil, then enjoy the same way.

Yuca Frita

This neat recipe is Just Dip It In Chocolate's take on the classic potato hashbrowns. All you need to do is to get one or two yuca roots. Cut them into chunks, peel them (like the recipe above), then boil in a large pot of water.

Unlike the recipe above, this one requires that the boiled yuca be cut into smaller pieces, then fried. Once done, it's a good alternative to french fries or hashbrowns, and will also serve as a good side dish to burgers.

Cuban-Style Yuca con Mojo + Fried Yuca Patties

The Curious Coconut has given us a cool (but best eaten hot) take on the starchy wonder that is the yuca root. It even has a tasty sauce with it!

Just make sure to take out the stringy, fibrous core from the boiled yuca root before you mix it with the sauce. You've been warned.

Yuca Chips

This good alternative to potato chips comes from Spoon Fork Bacon.

It's so simple! Get some yuca, slice into potato chip-thin slices, fry in cooking oil, drain with paper towels, and sprinkle with salt to taste! Just make sure to let it cool before eating.

Cassava Fritters - Buñuelos de Yuca

Mexico In My Kitchen shares a wonderful dessert idea to the world! It does take a lot of time to cook (the yuca first, and the syrup next), but the effort will be well worth it. After all, it's much better to enjoy something you've worked hard for.

Dominican Yuca Empanadas (Catibias o Cativias)
