Former Twitter CEO Dick Costolo confirms heading into a new project following his resignation from one of the biggest social media sites.

CNBC reported that Costolo will be launching a fitness start up that will provide people a personal fitness platform they will enjoy. The former Twitter boss made it clear that this will not be about one or two specific fitness programs.

"This isn't about creating software for one fitness community, such as Crossfit or yoga or Soulcycle. It's a platform for everyone," Costolo said. "One sees the entire fitness ecosystem becoming increasingly large but also fragmented and confusing and it's not clear the ecosystem is putting the consumer first."

"We are going to change that and bring all these disparate pieces together in a way that is simple, fun, and social."

Although Costolo did not give further details about the new company, he did mention that he is joining Index Ventures to focus on companies and entrepreneurs that will become his partners in the new fitness startup. He will also guide some of the entrepreneurs and mentor new tech executives that are currently trying to make it big in the industry.

The venture capital firm, Index Ventures, is based in San Francisco California and London, U.K.

Costolo said that he is eager to work with the best people at Index and jumping into his new business venture makes him very excited. He mentioned that this year will be very special for him and added that he can't wait to start the whole thing now, New York Times reported.

Costolo was the head of Twitter for six years and all those time he spent with the tech giant, he found an interest in personal fitness.

He has yet to reveal the name of the company he is working in now. However, he and Bryan Oki, his partner, will create a software that would give people a complete platform for personal fitness

"Over the course of the last couple of years working with Bryan in various group settings, I observed both my personal development and increased physical energy as a leader," the tech boss said.

His plan is to bring this development and fitness to the masses.

"This process improves productivity, it increases energy levels, and it builds camaraderie among teams - all things I've lived through personally," he added.

Costolo left Twitter six months ago and he was replaced by the social media site founder Jack Dorsey.
