Dr. Nabil El Sanadi, the chief of emergency medicine and the CEO of Broward Health committed suicide. According to people close to him, his death is a loss not just for Broward Health, but to the whole community.

Dr. El Sanadi had been appointed as the CEO of Broward Health, which is among the top 10 largest US health systems, in December 2014. Unlike many CEO, El Sanadi wanted to continue working in the emergency room for the sake of maintaining his medical skills and experiencing how executive decisions would affect medical staff. This way, he could be a better and more effective CEO for the company.

According to Sun Sentinel, a week before El Sanadi took his own life, he phoned David Di Pietro, Broward Health public hospital's chair of the board. He insisted on discussing about the future they want for Broward Health even when Di Pietro suggested to talk about the CEO's health. Di Pietro said that El Sanadi sounded great even when the latter just had just gone through heart bypass surgery. He talked about the future. Thus, people who know the CEO were really shocked knowing that he committed suicide.

Just last Saturday, El Sanadi shot and killed himself in the bathroom in the lobby of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea condominium building, where he lived, the Sun Times reported. It was 4 in the afternoon when he was found dead. The Broward Sheriff's office confirmed it was suicide after seeing the self-inflicted gunshot.

Di Pietro was asked whether he thinks that El Sanadi's successful heart bypass surgery, which occurred 10 days before he killed himself, pushed the doctor to commit suicide. He answered "He had some health issues, and if I had to speculate, that's what I would say. But I don't know."

Aside from rumors and speculations, there is still no certain answer as to why El Sanadi took his own life. There was also no suicide note found by Deputies. His death leaves his family and friends with a lot of "Why?"

El Sanadi studied and graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University, which is situated in Cleveland. He also studied and graduated from Ohio State University's medical school. He was working as University Hospitals of Cleveland's chief of emergency. Then, he was appointed as the chief of emergency medicine and chief executive officer at Broward Health in December 2014, according to CBS Local.
