Xiaomi Mi5 Release Date, Specs & Price: Device Will be Unveiled Feb. 24; Design Includes Curved Front Panel? [Rumors]

The Xiaomi Mi5 will officially be unveiled on Feb. 24 during an event by the company's senior vice president, Liwan Jiang.

According to Tech Times, the Spring Conference may last more than 2 hours starting at 2 p.m. in the country's local which indicates that Xiaomi may be unveiling more than one product.

"Feb. 24, 2015 millet new spring conference, that is, we look forward to the # 5 # millet, particularly ticket sales and the rules the next Tuesday," Jiang posted on Weibo, as translated by the outlet. There were no new details shared but Xiaomi did state that access and info to ticket sales will be given on Jan. 26.

The Mi5 will be released to the public on March 1, 2016, a week after the event.

Day Herald reports that the Xiaomi event is on the same timeline as Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona, Spain. The outlet adds that Samsung and LG will be announcing their lineup on the event as well.

Additionally, another leaked photo which is rumored to be the Mi5 was shared online. The photo showed that the Xiaomi Mi5 might come with a curved panel, completely apart from the rumors that it might have a dual-edged screen similar to Samsung's Galaxy S6 Edge. The curved panel showcases molded sides and a flat screen with the display and nondisplay part connected seamlessly.

It's been more than a year since the Chinese company launched the Xiaomi Mi4 (August 2014) which is considered to be their latest high-end smartphone. According to Softpedia, the Mi5 was delayed so that the company's phones will not come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processors that are known for its overheating issues.

For its specs, it is rumored that there will be two variants of the Mi5 that will both be 5.2 inches long. There will be one handset with a QHD display, 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory and the other will have a full HD display with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

As for their processor, they will both have the Snapdragon 820 quad-core processors. It will have long lasting 3600 mAh battery which will power up its Android V5.1 Lollipop OS and MIUI V7 OS, Additionally, it will have fingerprint sensor, LED light notification feature, a 4GE-LTE network support, a 16MO rear camera witg LED flash and a 13MP selfie camera.

According to a Xiaomi Fan Blog, the Mi5 could be priced at 2250 Yuan or around $399.
