The massive deck game "Exploding Kittens" has transcended into the mobile gaming world and is now available for iOS and is coming to Android soon, Mashable reports. Just a day after the release, the hit card game has reached the top spot on the Paid App list on the App Store, as per TechCrunch.

According to Mashable, with over 200,000 backers and $8.8 million in funds, the card game version of "Exploding Kittens," created by Mathew Inman (better known as The Oatmeal), Elan Lee and Shane Small, has been the most-funded game in Kickstarter. The card game was released in July 2015.

Mechanics for "Exploding Kittens" requires players to draw a card from a deck, and when an exploding kitten card appears, they will be out of the game. However, Mashable says that players can use special cards to diffuse the exploding kittens or play out their competitors. Cards for counterattacks include belly rubs, catnip sandwiches, etc., per TechCrunch.

With a concept to create a “kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette," the news outlet said that the iOS version of "Exploding Kittens" is designed to host multiple players (around four to five).

However, for the meantime, the developers said that the game is “very much a party game," which means that you can only play it with people who are physically around you via a unique Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combo, akin to the technology used in FireChart and Jott.

TechCrunch says that this kind of technology eliminates the lag and sudden disconnection that usually happen when playing online with other people in a remote location.

What makes the mobile game different from the card version though is that it has some additional art created by Inman, new game mechanics as well as sounds and voices, the publication noted.

"Exploding Kittens" is now available on the App Store for $1.99 and, for a limited time, gamers can enjoy free in-app game purchases, as per Mashable.

Adam Pearson, Lead Developer of “Exploding Kittens" from Substantial, said that the current "Exploding Kittens" mobile game is still a work in progress and more developments are coming soon.

“We focused on doing the best possible job of adapting the physical card game to the mobile platform by sticking to a face-to-face, party game style of gameplay that still felt natural on a smartphone. Players can expect any future developments to open the game to a broader user-base," said Pearson.
