Move over, Benedict Cumberbatch, there's a new Sherlock Holmes in town and it's Pikachu. According to GameSpot, the trailer for the new "Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Combination" game for Nintendo 3DS has been released, showing the well-loved Pokemon channeling its inner Sherlock.

The trailer, which lasts for one minute and 15 seconds, shows Pikachu wearing a detective hat like that of Sherlock Holmes. Armed with a magnifying glass, the Pokemon and his partner wearing a red hoodie try to solve mystery after mystery.

According to The Verge, Pikachu's representation in "Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Combination" will be slightly different as seen in the trailer. In the new Japanese video game, it seems that Pikachu has the ability to talk and make conversations rather than just saying "pika" all the time.

A previous report from Game Spot back in 2013 says that Pikachu's character will be able to react to facial expressions of the gamer, who will take the role of Pikachu's red hoodie-wearing partner. Also, apart from the original yellow Pikachu, other versions of the said Pokemon will also be shown in the game.

The publication said that a special blue Pikachu will be featured as well as a villain Pikachu. However, Game Spot notes that it's still not clear at that time whether the blue Pikachu will be an antagonist or if fans would like seeing the famous Pokemon playing a villainous role.

The recent GameSpot report says that there's still no announcement or confirmation from Nintendo if "Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Combination" will be released in English or will only be exclusive within Japan. The detective game for Nintendo 3DS will be launched on Feb. 3 and will have an initial price tag of 1,200 Yen, which will later be at 1,500 Yen after three weeks in the market.

This year is a special moment for The Pokemon Company as it marks its 20th anniversary in the industry. As per the Verge, aside from "Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Combination," the company and Nintendo has been marking this special year via a lot of publicity, release and visibility in the market. These include having a 60-second commercial in the upcoming Superbowl 50, which you can watch below. The said commercial is estimated to have cost The Pokemon Company $10 million or more, per another report from The Verge.

Other new Pokemon releases include a Nintendo 3DS bundle and the highly anticipated augmented reality mobile game titled "Pokemon GO," per the publication.
