'Legend of Zelda' Wii U 2016 Release Date 'Accidentally' Confirmed by Nintendo? Gameplay Launch in Time For 30th Franchise Anniversary [Rumors]

"The Legend of Zelda" is scheduled to release in 2016 on Wii U, according to rumors.

Design & Trend reports that the rumor arose via Nintendo official financial summary which was released today. In its six pages contain information that "The Legend of Zelda" which was temporary titled was named as a Wii U product. The website notes that it was different during the company's financial summary in 2015 as the game's release was only listed as TBD by then.

The discovery compounds the facts that Nintendo Direct released a game teaser in November last year. 2016 is also the franchise's 30th anniversary in Japan. It would be right to mark the occasion with the new Wii U game to the happiness of the fans.

Venture Beat reports that along with the "The Legend of Zelda" Wii U game, there are five more titles that will come out as well.

This includes "The Legends of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD" that will be released on March 4 this year, "Pokkén Tournament" which is scheduled on March 18, "Star Fox Zero" will be released on April 22, and "Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem" & "Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games" with no release dates yet.

In other news, Nintendo has revealed is first smartphone game. To the disappointment of fans, it wasn't what they were hoping for. Nintendo revealed the Miitomo, a game coming to iOS and Android next month on March 2016. Miitomo is a free-to-play game with in-app purchases where users can create Miis or avatars of one another to communicate. The game is created in collaboration with Japanese mobile games developer DeNA.

According to PC Advisor, Miitomo pre-registration is possible this month soon. To pre-register, a Nintendo Account can be made using a Nintendo Network ID, social network accounts or e-mail address beginning Feb. 17. Additionally, Nintendo plans to launch five mobile games by 2017 next year. However, there has been no word as to what the titles are.

International Business Times reports that Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima hinted this week that the second smartphone game will feature several well-known video game characters but he hasn't said anything as to who.

Additionally, Kimishima also announced that Nintendo is interested in virtual reality (VR). It is rumored that Nintendo NX console could feature VR support similar to Microsoft's support for Oculus Rift for Xbox One.
