"The Voice" judge Christina Aguilera opens up about her childhood trauma and what she did to overcome it and eventually make peace with herself.

In an article by Women's Health magazine, Christina Aguilera revealed some details about personal subjects regarding her childhood. The singer admitted that the inspiration to strive harder in life came from her mother when she saw her being pushed around by her father. It's also the reason why she decided to be as hard working as she can be to be able to support herself and her kids.

"The fact that my mom was pushed around by my father...I decided early on that I'm not going to be that woman. I'm not going to allow myself to be in a situation where I have to rely on this man or that person for financial means," the singer said. "So I strived to be that workhorse."

However, the singer also realized that to be able to take care of everyone else, she first has to look after herself. Being a mother to two kids, she incorporated fitness and yoga to her lifestyle. She did emphasize that her healthier options are not driven to be able to see her numbers drop on the scale but rather, she aims to develop "love and positive energy" during her yoga sessions.

"Health shouldn't be a tortuous process. Healthy is a state of mind, and it has to come from inside," mentioned the singer.

Meanwhile, the "Fighter" singer is currently busy with filming episodes for the return of "The Voice." Aguilera made her comeback to the reality singing competition after she filed for maternity leave. According to a report from Inquisitr, Aguilera has already gained her momentum back as she was seen bonding with the new key adviser of the show, Miley Cyrus.

In terms of launching a new album, the singer said that she will not be rushing to make any music yet. After her last Grammy for the song "Say Something," Aguilera said that she needs to feel invested in a record before she pushes through with a project. The singer even mentioned Adele, who took a break for four years and made a smashing comeback with her record "25."

"She has a way of singing with such truth. I love how genuine she comes across in her songwriting," Aguilera said.

Catch Aguilera on the season 10 of "The Voice" which will back on February 29 with other coaches Adam Levine, Pharell Williams and Blake Shelton.
