'Deadpool 2' Release Date, Cast News & Update: Cable Confirmed for Sequel; Hugh Jackman to Appear As Wolverine? [Rumors]

A post-credit video after the "Deadpool" movie confirmed the sequel and according to Movie Pilot, the Merc with a Mouth himself confirmed that they will be having Cable, another comic book hero from Marvel.

"Oh you're expecting a teaser for Deadpool 2. Well, we don't have that kind of money. But I can tell you one thing that's a bit of a secret. The sequel? We're gonna have Cable. Amazing character—bionic arm, time travel... We have no idea who we're gonna cast yet but it could be anybody," Deadpool said, as the website reported.

The sequel was also confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter and it has already been greenlighted, according to its sources. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers of the movie will reportedly be penning the sequel. Reese and Wernick along with "Deadpool" star Ryan Reynolds apparently teamed up together to have the movie made.

So did Hugh Jackman do a cameo as Wolverine in the movie? To put it simply, yes, but not in the way you imagine him to be. There is no official word yet if he will be making an "appearance" in the sequel yet.

Speaking with Yahoo, Wernick revealed that the first movie was written almost 7 years ago. The trio took a "crazy" journey to see where the movie will be now which will be opening in the US in the weekend.

Reese explained how the origin story is different and how they come to agree with Ryan considering how the actor thinks the origin is important.

"I think what it ended up doing was it allowed us to balance the two tones. The past scenes are a little darker," he said. "The present scenes are more silly and Deadpool is in his suit for most of them and they're wacky and a little cartoony sometimes, with a lot of pop culture references."

He adds that they made use of their idea to fit their budget and since it's Deadpool and he doesn't have to conform to "normal rules."

When asked why they got Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead for the film, Reese explains that it is because due to legal issues. What's more, they were less explored characters especially Colossus who is popular in the comics. He adds that Colossus' personality of being overly serious contrasts a lot with Deadpool's too.

"Deadpool" will be coming to theaters this Friday, Feb. 12.
