Medical Marijuana has been controversial to many states in the United States. Many has been wanting cannabis to be legalized. In Canada, where most likely marijuana is legal, the top pharmacy hopes to sell over the counter medical marijuana in the near future.

The number one pharmacy in Canada, Shoppers Drug Mart, filed an application at the Canadian Government. The pharmacy confirmed it last Wednesday that if granted, it will allow them to be a licensed distributor of medical marijuana at its stores nationwide.

Shoppers spokesperson said in a statement, "We are hopeful that the Government of Canada will revise the current regulations to allow dispensing of pharmacy," according to ABC News.

As of now, patients in Canada can only gain access to medical marijuana by mail from the licensed producers. Shoppers Drug Mart shared that selling cannabis through pharmacies would heighten access, safety, quality and security for the thousands of Canadian consumers who use the drug in their medication therapy.

Medical marijuana is being used by ten thousand consumers in Canada alone. The main reason for this is therapeutic purposes.

In a report from CNN Money, A spokesperson for competitor Rexall said that at this point, it is more about controlling the situation rather than a distribution of license.

In line, more and more states and individuals have been supporting medical marijuana and wanted it to be legalized over the past few years. In the United States, the legalization for the medical and recreational use of the cannabis are rising in numbers.

This coming November, more US state are voting for the legalization on new marijuana propositions. Apparently, California and Florida is one of the states that will vote. The voting will cover the legalization of marijuana either for medical purposes or recreational.
