Unique Love Story: Former marine who donated his liver to cancer patient ends up marrying her

There is no doubt that love can really move in mysterious ways. Who would have thought that an organ donor ties a knot with the person in need of his liver? The unique love story of Christopher Dempsey and Heather Krueger started their love journey through a liver operation.
Back in 2015, Heather Krueger suffers from a stage four liver cancer and left with a 50 percent chance of living if an additional two months if no liver donor will be available.
As follows, In the workplace of Christopher Dempsey, he overheard the conversation that Kreuger needed the liver, because she was struggling as 119,000 people are on the waiting list for liver transplant. That is when Dempsey offered his liver to Kreuger.
Christopher Dempsey a former marine shared to BBC News that, "I heard a co-worker talking about his cousin who needed a liver transplant. I just thought to myself, I would want someone to help me or my family in that situation."
The lovers first talked when Dempsey called Kreuger and told her that they are a match. Tears of joy from her family are overflowing after the news that she finally had an organ transplant donor. After the call, they met up for lunch, then they continuously spent time together weeks before the transplant happened.
Dempsey said that "We were going out looking for donations for a benefit, and I just started thinking, she's a really nice girl, she is somebody I would like to get to know."
The two underwent the operation last March 16, 2015, at the University of Illinois Hospital. As they have recovered the procedure the two announced that they are officially dating, according to Health Aim.
Kreuger is now free from the liver disease. More good news is that 8 months after the operation, Dempsey proposed to Kruger and 19 months later the two got married.
Dempsey said that "I would never have thought in a million years when I agreed to all this that I would marry her. It is amazing."
