Who among the female artists in music are the highest paid in 2016? Forbes reveals

Taylor Swift ranked first on the Forbes magazine's list of the highest-earning female solo artists in music for the year 2016. She has earned $170 million from June 1, 2015, to June 1, 2016.

Lori Landew, an entertainment attorney from Fox Rothschild said that Swift has been building her fan base for years, and that goes across several market segments. He further said that it's her ability to appeal to younger and older audiences and those in between that makes Taylor such a sure bet with concert promoters and brands who want to conglomerate with her and with the community she has cultivated.

Forbes reports that Taylor Swift's earnings came from her 1989 world tour. It sold more than $250m worth of tickets and most came from North America. In addition, she had over 3 million album equivalents and affiliated with brands such as Apple, Keds and Diet Coke.

Next to Taylor Swift is Adele who earned about $80.5 million. She made most of her money on album sales. On the third spot is Madonna with $76.5 million earnings. It was in her Rebel Heart tour that she earned much and grossed $170 million.

Rihanna landed the fourth spot with $75 million followed by Beyoncé with $54 million. According to the Guardian, Beyoncé might be higher next year when the sales from her Formation world tour will be considered.

Meanwhile, the last year highest paid female artist, Katy Perry, has now on the sixth place with $41 million. Her Prismatic world tour had earned her as much as $135 million and made her on top in 2015.

On the bottom four of the top 10 are Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spear, Shania Twain and Celine Dion. Some of the artists who also earned much but not on the top 10 list are Mariah Carey, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez, Dolly Parton, Halsey and G.E.M.
