Hot, sexy and healthy, Jennifer Aniston is one the unforgettable beauties in Hollywood. At 46, she is still oozing with hotness. Being in the film industry for decades, Aniston shows almost no marks in aging that everyone envies. So, what is her secret? A low-carbohydrate diet.

Aniston basically cuts down her carbohydrate intake. She reduces her consumption of bread, rice and pasta as other celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna and Cindy Crawford did.

A Low-carbohydrate diet restricts carbohydrates such as found in sugary foods, pasta, and bread. Scientists confirm that minimizing carbohydrate intake may also help lowers the risk for insulin resistance and therefore may prevent diabetes. It is also effective for losing weight and improve health.

According to the statement made by Professor Borer from Michigan University, as quoted by the Body and Soul, "What is remarkable in our finding is they show a simple dietary modification of reducing the carbohydrate content of the meals can, within a day, protect against the development of insulin resistance."

Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas that allows the body to use sugar (glucose) from carbohydrates in the digested foods for energy or to store glucose for future use. It also helps to keep blood sugar level getting too high or too low.

There are many different types of low-carbohydrate diet. However, foods that should be eaten depends on few things like health, exercise and body weight.

The basics must be considered in planning for a low-carbohydrate diet that should be applied.

  • Eat meat, fish, egg, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, high-fat diary, fats, healthy oils and maybe some tubers and non-gluten grains.
  • Avoid eating sugar, High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), wheat, seed oils, trans fats, "diet" and low-fat products and highly processed foods.

Also, experts strongly suggest high-carbohydrate foods should be avoided as much as possible like pasta, breads, gluten grains, trans fats, high-omega 6 seed, fruit juices, ice creams and other sugary food. Instead a keen vegetable intakes, modest in fat intake from source and moderate protein intake is very recommended.
