Many iPhone users reported that they faced automatic shutdown problem in their iPhones.

A few days after issuing a message on its Chinese website regarding the battery shutdown in some iPhone 6s, Apple added a new message on its site. Many customers have also reported an unexpected shutdown in their other iPhones.

According to Tech News, Apple is preparing an iOS update which will have a diagnostic capability so that company can collect more information and improve its ability to manage the battery performances.

There is an update on the cause of this issue - some of the batteries are exposed to "controlled ambient air" during manufacturing.

Apple noted that "a small number" of iPhone 6s which was manufactured in September and October of 2015 were facing these shutdowns problems due to prolonged exposure to controlled ambient air, as reported by Mac Rumors.

Some other customers outside this range also reported an unexpected shutdown. Not all the shutdowns are due to this battery problem. Some of these shutdowns occur for normal conditions for protection.

Due to these problems Apple has updated its iOS software to sort out their problems. This will help them to gather more information about their devices and helps in improvement in algorithms which is used to manage battery performance and shutdowns.

The update presumably iOS 10.2 will be made available after sometimes and Apple also mentioned that if any improvements and solutions are discovered, they will be delivered in a future software update.

For those people who think their iPhone 6s is affected, Apple has launched a repair program last month offering free battery replacements for those iPhones which were manufactured between September and October 2015 which are experiencing shutdowns problems.

Apple has also provided a new tools option for costumers that they can enter their iPhone serial numbers to see that they are eligible to see for their replacement program.
