First official trailer of most awaited 'War for the Planet of the Apes' is released on December 9, 2016, which appears to be the greatest clash between apes and humans in the series.

This is the third movie of the series of rebooted movies from the Planet of the Apes franchise. First one was Rise of the Planet of the Apes in 2011 and the second one was Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in 2014.

The Guardian writes that this movie continues the conflict that began in "Dawn". The trailer footage shows it to be an extremely heavy duty, with lots of high-grade weaponry in use.

The war is personalized in the forms of Caesar (Andy Serkis) and the shaven-headed Colonel played by Woody Harrelson.

From the very beginning, Caesar intones, "I did not start this war." He adds, "I offered you peace. I showed you mercy. But now you're here to finish us off. For good."

The trailer shows a group of soldiers entering a dark cave searching for a leader of the apes. There is plenty of gunfire as both sides go head to head.

The Colonel speaks, "The irony is, we created you. And nature has been punishing us ever since."

As written in The Verge, there are glimpses of Woody Harrelson's Colonel, caravans of military vehicles, and a child that the apes seem to have rescued.

This is the second film for Reeves in this series. The first one he directed was 'Dawn'. 'Rise' was directed by Rupert Wyatt. Not to mention that 'Planet' collected $480 million over its $93 million budget and 'Dawn' collected $707 million over its $170 million budget. It is expected that 'War' will also be a major box office hit.

'War of the Planet of the Apes' will be released in the theater on July 14, 2017, which is the same general weekend on which 'Dawn' was released.
