'Train to Busan' English-version To Be Relased by 'Gaumont'

French studio Gaumont finally won the rights to remake the English-language version of the zombie action thriller Korean movie "Train to Busan".

The studio's competitors that competed with Gaumont were Sony, Fox, Studiocanal, and EuropaCorp. "We are more than happy to start our business with Gaumont, one of the greatest film companies with rich experience in terms of global projects. We hope this opportunity could let the Korean films get more attention and be familiar with the audience all over the world.", said Kim Woo-Taek, the CEO of Next Entertainment World said on Wednesday when the deal accepted,  

Sidone Dumas, the CEO of Gaumont said "We're excited to start working on the U.S. adaptation that will mark our first foray into English-language movie making in Los Angeles,". The team has loved the movie and wanted to remake since seen in Cannes Film Festival, he added. 

This remake film will be produced in Los Angeles, U.S, but for the casts, crews, and production schedules have not confirmed yet. According to the head of international production and distribution of Gaumont, Cecile Gaget that Several Hollywood talent agencies and directors have already approached the company. 

Gaumont's deal with Next Entertainment World also includes French language version, even though the company has no plan the French version.

"Train to Busan," directed by Yeon Sang Ho, tells the story about struggling to protect the loved one from the zombie attack. The movie was set inside a high-speed train from Seoul to Busan. As stated by KoBiz, Korean Film Biz Zone, the movie reached USD 79,85 million total gross and 11,57 million viewers across the Korea and abroad since it has released.
