Tech Giant Google is offering huge cuts on its products to get rid of the excess inventory of unpopular products. With dwindling sales of tablets, Google reckons it is the right time to offer deep cuts in price tags to woo customers during this holiday season.

Google Pixel C was launched along with other flagship Google products-Nexus 6P & Nexus 5X, as reported in Android Headlines.

Google has made an announcement couple of days back that it is cutting the price of Pixel C tablet by $100 for the 64GB model. Given the exorbitant cost of the tablet at $599, customers are backing down, which resulted in a huge pile of inventory. With this discount, the price is tagged at $499.

One more product, Google wireless keyboard is also offered at a discounted price of $99 instead of ridiculous $149, which thwarted purchases. The fact that many other branded keyboards are offered below $100, the move has timed well. But, the ultimate objective remains whether consumers will still buy it at this price.

Interestingly, the price of Pixel C and keyboard are available at discounted price only from December 12, 2016, to January 7, 2017. It would have been fair if the Google Pixel C 32GB version price is also slashed by $100. Right now, both 32GB and 64GB stand at the same price, and naturally, any sensible customer would choose 64GB, which offers more storage, instead of 32GB.

The motive behind this offer is visible. It appears that Google wants to hard sell Pixel C 64GB to reduce the piled up inventory.

The only tablets which are close to Pixel C price are Apple iPad Pro 32GB and Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 both 9.7 Inch offered for $549 at Best Buy. While the rest of the other brands are offered well below $250 in an economy range including Samsung and Kindle. So, there is no greater motivation to go for Pixel C over others.

Google should consider continuing the same price even after January to keep aloft in the tablet market share.
