Candles are often gifted as a present and with Christmas round the corner the Secret Santas need to be careful while buying one from Yankee Candle Company this time.

The Yankee Candle Company is voluntarily recalling products from its 'Luminous Collection' fragrance candles. According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the glass of the Luminous Collection candles can shatter when the candle is lit and thus poses a laceration hazard.

The recall comes after Yankee Candle received reports of the candle glass breaking, but luckily no one was injured. The candles being recalled are four inches wide by five inches high and have three wicks. These candles are distinctive looking, with a square base and textured, rustic-looking glass. The candles in question were only sold in Yankee Candle stores and on their website between September and November 2016 for $35 each, GoodHousekeeping reported.

"We have recently received consumer feedback regarding our new Luminous Collection candles which has indicated that when the candle is lit, the glass jar may crack, posing a possible laceration hazard," reads a statement on official website of Yankee Candle. About 31,000 Luminous Collection Yankee Candles have been recalled by the company.

Following are the item numbers being recalled (you can check the bottom of your candle to find it):

1535651: Sea Salt & Coral

1535890: Blackberry & Sage

1535891: Apple Blossom & Melon

1535892: Sugarcane & Honey

1535893: Pine & Sandalwood

1535894: Cinnamon & Cedar

If you have purchased a Luminous Collection candle or got it as a gift, please do not light it. You can return the same to your nearest Yankee Candle company-owned retail store to get a full refund plus one free candle of your choice for your inconvenience.
