Flip Or Flop Couple Split: Tarek And Christina El Moussa's Open Up About Their Split

Tarek and Christina El Moussa shocked their fans by their separation. HGTV's Flip or Flop couple are living apart since May and they announced that this Monday.

The couple tells PEOPLE in this week's issue that they decided to separate while they re-evaluated the next steps in their married life. They believed that this was in the best interest of the children and the best way to determine a path forward.

Flip or Flop couple tied their knot in 2009 and they decided to separate in this year May. They still did not file their divorce yet. They confirmed to ET that they took a step back following a recent incident involving a gun that led to the police being called.

Christina El Moussa is 35 and Tarek El Moussa is 33 years old said that they are committed to their kids. On the day of May 23, Christina was crying and shaking and she called the police when Tarek fled their California home having a gun in his backpack following an argument.

They said that they have both dated other people following the separation but none of them is ready to announce anything related to another relationship. They currently have no plan to split up their many businesses.

Tarek and Christina plan to continue their professional life together by being professional and doing their job well by being prepared and working hard. They are currently filming for HGTV and working on a book 'Flip Your Life' which they will release in March.

They said that their children, 6-year-old Taylor and 16 months old Brayden are their No. 1 priority. They felt that their kids were the most difficult part of the decision of separation. That they want best for them and they are doing everything they can to ensure that.
