The Apple iPhone 6s is not the only smartphone shutting down even though the device shows that there is plenty of battery life remaining. The Huawei manufactured Nexus 6P is also experiencing similar battery issues, shutting down even when there is nearly 60% battery life remaining.

Google's 2015 flagship Huawei Nexus 6P users who recently upgraded their device to Android 7.0 Nougat, are complaining that their device's battery is draining faster than usual. Redytedy, a Nexus 6P user, uploaded a video on Reddit showing how the device when using the camera shuts down just after taking three shots.

Reacting to the video, another Reddit user who also owns a Nexus 6P complained of a similar issue. He recounted that while watching a video on his device, the battery indicator showed drastic drop in life from 23 percent to 0 and shut down within seconds.

Many users complained that attempts to revive (reboot) the device after it shuts down is always futile, it could only be restarted when connected to a power source. Judging by the number of comments on the social media platform, the issue seems to be quite widespread.

The fault seems to be coming from Android 7.0 Nougat software and not from any particular app, as there are several accounts of the battery getting drained while browsing a website, playing games, taking calls and other different activities, according to IBTimes.

Those who have complained about the problem on the AOSP Issue Tracker site, say that the battery problem started after the Nexus 6P was updated to Android 7.0 Nougat. The battery bar shows 10- 60 percent of battery life remaining before the phone goes off.

Users that flashed their Nexus 6P back to Android 6.0 with the hope of removing the bug are finding that the problem persists on Marshmallow. One interesting discovery is that the problem really comes to light in cold weather.

A few Nexus 6P users tried to reset their device to factory mode, but they had partial success, as the battery failure re-surfaced after some days. Tech savvy users who are registered to Google's beta program and got access to the new Android 7.1.1 Nougat preview version, have claimed that the battery issue has been fixed.

Huawei has turned away Nexus 6P users who laid complaints saying that it is not responsible for the problem. The manufacturer says the issue is not with the hardware, but with Google's software. Google, however, does not have fixing this issue high up on its to-do list, according to Phone Arena.

A smartphone that shuts down randomly, despite having battery life remaining, is not only useless but is dangerous as well as a Reddit user wrote that he was about to order a ride via Uber on a dark and freezing night when all of a sudden his Nexus 6P shuts down. He was lucky enough to find a hotel a few blocks away, allowing him to contact a friend to pick him up.

So far, neither Google nor Huawei has made any official comments on the battery draining issue in Nexus 6P series and there is still no solution to the issue. It seems the Nexus 6P users have no other choice but to wait for Google to release the new Android update.
